Buhari Appoints Jaji As New Chief Of The Fire Service

President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s most powerful citizen, has appointed Abdulganiyu Jaji as the new Controller General of the Federal Fire Service.

Jaji was previously the Deputy Controller General in charge of Administration and Supplies.

The President gave the approval in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Civil Defence, Immigration and Prisons Service Board (CDIPB), Aisha Rufai, in Abuja.

Jaji’s appointment took effect on April 22, 2022, and he will oversee the service for the foreseeable future, according to the statement.

According to the statement, Jaji was the best choice among those who went through the Ministry of Interior’s screening and selection procedure.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Jaji Olola Abdulganiyu as the Controller General Federal Fire Service with effect from Friday 22nd April 2022.

“Until his appointment, Engr Abdulganiyu was the Deputy Comptroller General in charge of Administration and Supplies in the Federal Fire Service.

“Engr. Abdulganiyu commenced his career at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing as Higher Technical Officer in 1991. He held several positions in the Ministry before his redeployment to the Federal Fire Service in 1999.

“Engr. Jaji Olola Abdulganiyu MNSE, MIFire, E, COREN, was born on the 13th of August 1965 to the family of Alh. Umar Olola Jaji in Ilorin, Kwara State. He holds a Master’s Degree in Mech. Eng. obtained in 1999, and he is married with children,” the statement reads.

Jaji succeeds Samson Karebo, the Acting Controller General, who was appointed on December 30, 2021.

Following his appointment, Jaji replaced Ibrahim Liman, the former Controller General, who retired in November 2021.
