Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees member, Bode George, has called for calm among party leaders and members as tensions rise over leadership disputes and executive positions.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, George expressed concern that internal conflicts could destabilize the party, warning that the PDP risks becoming a “rudderless ship” if issues are not carefully handled.
He revealed that several party elders are working behind the scenes to resolve the crisis, emphasizing that fairness and justice must guide decision-making.
“I appeal to everybody as an elder, one of those elected at the very first elective convention of the party in December 1999, this is not the time we will use the party’s structure to throw people under the train,” George stated.
He also urged party officials to exercise caution in disciplinary actions, noting that those enforcing such measures must have clean records.
Addressing the PDP’s decision to recognize Sunday Ude-Okoye as the National Secretary, George maintained that the party must uphold the rule of law. He added that if a Supreme Court ruling later overturns the Court of Appeal’s decision in favor of Ude-Okoye, the PDP would abide by it.
“The ship is already in the storm, and if we are not careful, we will become a rudderless ship. A rudderless ship will go down,” he warned.
