The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Senator Douye Diri, The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the off-cycle Bayelsa State governorship election, has won the Saturday, November 11, 2023 election.
Diri, who contested for the second term in office, won the poll after scoring 175, 196 votes, to defeat close challenger, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 110, 108 votes. Farouk Adamu, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer in Bayelsa, announced the results of the election on Monday afternoon.
Diri’s unassailable victory became apparent.
The PDP candidate won the election with a margin of 65,088 votes ahead of his APC counterpart and others trailing far behind.
