The political coalition reportedly led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denied claims that it has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its official platform for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Salihu Moh. Lukman, a key member of the coalition and former Director-General of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), dismissed the reports as “misleading and false.”
“The public should disregard the story as it is completely false. No such decision has been taken,” Lukman stated, refuting claims that he had been appointed to lead the coalition’s secretariat.
He clarified that coalition leaders are still in active negotiations and have not yet selected any political party as their official platform.
“Unfortunately, there appears to be some mischief makers promoting and planting stories in the media with the clear aim of sowing seeds of discord among coalition leaders,” he added.
The coalition, which reportedly involves opposition heavyweights including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, is in ongoing discussions to form a united political front aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
