In a statement issued on Tuesday by his media office in Abuja, Atiku stated that he was never approached with such a proposal and had not attended any meeting where the issue was discussed.
“There was no such meeting. Atiku Abubakar was never in attendance. The entire story is a malicious fabrication pure fiction cooked up in the propaganda kitchens of the Tinubu-led APC regime,” the statement read.
Atiku, who recently joined other opposition leaders in adopting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the platform for a new coalition, said the false report was a diversionary tactic by the APC aimed at sowing discord among the opposition.
“This is nothing but an attempt by a faltering administration to derail the momentum gained by the successful unveiling of the ADC,” it added.
His media team reaffirmed the unity and determination of opposition leaders to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027, insisting that propaganda, planted stories, and anonymous briefings would not deter their mission.
“Nigerians have already embraced the ADC as the most credible and viable opposition platform ahead of 2027.
The growing support the ADC continues to enjoy across the country is a clear signal that the Tinubu administration is living on borrowed time.”
Atiku’s camp urged the public and the media to disregard the report, saying it lacked authorship, credibility, and factual basis.
The clarification comes amid intense coalition-building and political realignments as the country edges closer to the 2027 general elections.
