APC Governorship Candidate Senator Okpebholo Attacked in Benin City, Undergoes Medical Treatment

Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Edo State, is currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital after an attack on his convoy by suspected political thugs.
The incident, which took place on Thursday afternoon, resulted in the death of one policeman and injuries to two others.
In a statement issued by Godswill Inegbe, Legislative Aide to Okpebholo in charge of Media & Communication, the attack was attributed to members of the Edo State Security Network and thugs allegedly sponsored by the Edo state government, led by Francis Inegbeniki.
The statement confirmed that three mobile policemen assigned to Okpebholo’s security detail were injured, with one later succumbing to his injuries.
“This afternoon, the motorcade of Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC governorship candidate, was brutally attacked by members of Edo State Security Network and state government-sponsored thugs,” Inegbe stated.
Senator Okpebholo is currently admitted to an undisclosed hospital in Benin City, receiving medical attention.
Other members of his entourage who were victims of the attack are also being treated in various hospitals across Benin City.
