The All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and ministers have reiterated their unflinching support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing that his reform policies are yielding visible results despite opposition criticism.
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who doubles as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), made this known to journalists on Wednesday following a high-level closed-door meeting in Abuja involving APC governors, ministers, and National Working Committee members.
“At the beginning of this administration, opposition voices were very loud in criticising the government’s reform policies. But today, the president is being vindicated,” Uzodimma stated.
He cited recent endorsements from global financial bodies like the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as clear validation of the administration’s economic direction. The governor stressed that the APC remains united and focused on supporting the president to achieve national development goals.
“This government was produced by all progressive governors. Every person here today is an APC member, regardless of their official position. We’ve come together to congratulate ourselves and Nigeria on recent developments,” he added.
The meeting, according to Uzodimma, served as a platform to strategize on how to support party loyalists and citizens who remain steadfast in their support of the president’s agenda.
“We have a duty to support this brave man, who is committed to Nigeria’s progress,” he emphasized.
Looking ahead to President Tinubu’s upcoming second anniversary in office, Uzodimma revealed that the APC National Working Committee would soon announce a comprehensive plan to commemorate milestones and evaluate challenges.
Also speaking at the briefing, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the gathering as a “family meeting” of committed party stakeholders.
“This was a family meeting of APC governors, ministers, and National Working Committee members,” he explained. “We are pleased with what has been achieved so far. There’s much to showcase.”
Mr Idris also noted that the party would intensify efforts to engage with the public, showcase government achievements, and receive citizen feedback to enhance governance.
“In spite of challenges, we’re on the right path, and with God’s help, Nigeria will succeed,” he concluded.
