Amid Party Crisis Ayu Declares PDP One Big United Family

Iyorchia Ayu

Iyorchia Ayu, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that  the PDP is one big united family amidst crisis rocking the party.

Ayu declared  the party’s unity at the launch of the party’s presidential and governorship campaigns in Kwara State on Thursday.
His statement comes  amidst crisis  involving the party’s leadership and the five  disgruntled governors known as the G5  governors in the PDP.

The G5, led by Rivers State Governor Nyesom  Wike, is dissatisfied with Ayu’s refusal to resign as national chairman for a person of southern extraction.

The disgruntled governor have insisted on their stand claiming agitating for equity in the zoning process within the party is what they stand for.

Even though both the aggrieved and the party leadership have said their doors are open for reconciliations, an agreement seems not to have been reached.

A situation that most people have claimed would affect the victory of the party in the forthcoming general election next year because the five governors have divided not to work for the PDP flag bearer Atiku Abubakar.

It was learned that it was during this turbulent period for the main opposition that its national chairman described Atiku as a  unifier.

While assuring Nigerians that the party would save the country in 2023, Ayu stated that it  was for this reason that the party chose a  unifier (Atiku) as its candidate.

According to the PDP national chairman, the party made a mistake by listening to promises of  change, but it has now returned to  reclaim and set the country on the path of  unity.

He said “PDP is one big united family, and we are on our way to victory. PDP is back to rescue this country and we are a party for all. This is why we picked a unifier who will unite this country.

“We made a big mistake by listening to promises that we will change, are you comfortable with this change?”
