Agboola Ajayi Emerges as PDP’s Governorship Candidate for Ondo State

A former deputy governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming election.
Ajayi, who previously served as deputy governor during Rotimi Akeredolu’s first term, He defeated six other aspirants of the after he secured 264 votes to emerge the winner at the party’s primary held in Akure, the Ondo State capital, yesterday with his closest contender, former House of Representatives member Kolade Akinjo, getting 157 votes.
The results of other aspirants include; Adeolu Akinwumi (64votes) Olusola Ebiseni (99 votes), Bamidele Akingboye (24 votes), Bosun Arebuwa (02) and John Mafo (09 votes).
Ajayi, during his acceptance speech expressed gratitude to the party leadership for organizing a transparent and equitable process that resulted in his selection as the party’s flag bearer.
He pledged to initiate a reconciliation effort with his fellow contestants within the party, emphasizing that the exercise had no victors or vanquished.
“The victory goes to all PDP members and I will like to commend the leadership of the party for the transparent and credible process. No victor and no vanquished and I see this as a victory for democracy. So, come November the PDP will come victorious in the governorship election by the grace of God,” he said.
