Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed reports suggesting he plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP and his commitment to seeking a second term under the party’s platform.
“Our attention has been drawn to reports about the imminent defection of Governor Adeleke to the ADC or alignment with ADC bigwigs ahead of the 2026 governorship race. There is no truth in those publications and speculations,” the statement read.
Adeleke made it clear that he has no political alliance with the ADC and sees no need for one, adding that the PDP in Osun has already endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election a move that, according to him, rules out any coalition with ADC.
“I remain in the PDP, will run in the PDP, and need no alliance with the ADC to win with a wide margin in 2026,” Adeleke stated.
He attributed his growing support to his administration’s achievements and pledged to sustain his performance-driven governance.
“The Osun electorate supports me because of my impressive performance since I came to office. That good work is ongoing, and the people are committed to sustaining the delivery of good governance by re-electing me in 2026,” he said.
Governor Adeleke also urged party members across Osun State to intensify efforts to strengthen the PDP’s structure ahead of the 2026 election.
Recall that on July 21, the Osun PDP caucus publicly endorsed President Tinubu for a second term and reaffirmed support for Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid.
