Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, has reiterated his commitment to reconciling factions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, stressing that party unity is more important than individual ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to journalists in Ibadan after a closed-door strategy meeting with APC state executives and chairmen of the 33 local governments, Adelabu declared that the party’s success must be a collective mission.
“Reconciliation is also about sacrifice. There is no reconciliation without compromise, and no compromise without cooperation and partnership,” Adelabu said.
“Nothing is too much for anyone to sacrifice if it ensures the APC’s victory.”
The meeting reviewed President Bola Tinubu’s administration, highlighting key federal interventions such as the student loan programme, agricultural support, and zonal development initiatives, all aimed at improving public confidence in the APC brand.
“We deliberated on the state of the APC in Oyo and discussed what we must do to win in 2027. We are optimistic about the Tinubu administration and confident that the coming years will bring even greater progress,” he noted.
Adelabu revealed that the next phase of reconciliation will include a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, with the participation of Oyo’s three senators and nine House of Representatives members.
“We’re not resting. Total reconciliation remains our goal. This is just the first step in our series of engagements,” he said.
Addressing APC’s electoral prospects in Oyo State, he underscored the need for internal democracy and transparent primaries to produce credible candidates.
“We believe Oyo State will return to the APC. We’ll ensure the best candidates emerge through credible processes,” Adelabu assured.
The minister’s remarks come as the Oyo APC intensifies efforts to rebuild trust, reenergize its base, and position itself as a viable alternative in the state’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
