Abdullahi Claims Party Filled With Political Refugees

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has stated that its priority is building a strong and credible opposition rather than engaging in zoning discussions, which it described as premature.

Speaking in Abuja, ADC National Publicity Secretary Malam Bolaji Abdullahi said many party members are “political refugees” from the PDP, Labour Party, and APC, who joined ADC after being sidelined or displaced by internal party conflicts. He stressed that the party is focused on establishing a firm national presence and convincing Nigerians that ADC can serve as a viable alternative capable of responsible governance.

Abdullahi highlighted that the party has opened offices in 28 states within just five months and is actively completing nationwide membership registration. He noted that ADC’s constitution ensures no individual or group can dominate the party, providing a safeguard against the internal disputes that have destabilised other political platforms.

He also added that no member has publicly declared intentions to contest governorship, senate, or presidential positions, emphasising that ADC aims first to strengthen internal unity before accommodating individual political ambitions.
