Abba Kyari Probe: PSC Issues A Two-week Ultimatum To Police

The Police Service Commission has ordered the Nigeria Police Force to complete its investigation into the case of suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari within two weeks.

In a statement issued on Friday, the commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, instructed that the probe be conducted by a new panel.

The decision was made at the Commission’s 14th plenary meeting, which was headed by Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector-General of Police and Chairman of the Commission.

Kyari was the chief of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team before his suspension.

In a fraud case involving internet fraudster Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi, the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States of America has indicted Kyari.

A panel set up by the IGP Usman Alkali had forwarded a report to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, for legal advice.

Meanwhile, Malami on Monday disclosed that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government and the United States government are discussing the possible extradition of the suspended head of the Intelligence Response Team, DCP Abba Kyari.

According to Malami, some reasonable grounds for suspicion have been established against Kyari.
