The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has clarified that it does not engage in the sale of adulterated petrol, rejecting claims made in a viral video. The company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, issued a statement on Thursday reaffirming NNPC Retail Ltd’s commitment to high standards and quality control at all stages of its operations.
Soneye refuted a video that showed a customer allegedly purchasing contaminated fuel from an NNPC Retail station at Keffi Flyover in Nasarawa State. He emphasized that NNPC Retail does not sell petrol in bottles or jerrycans, as depicted in the video. “We conducted spot checks at our outlets, and the claim was found to be false,” he stated.
The company further urged the public to disregard the misleading video and remain cautious of individuals spreading such false narratives. NNPCL stressed its commitment to maintaining pump integrity through regular inspections and calibrations to ensure reliable service at all its stations nationwide.
