Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Public Communications and Orientation, has asserted that former President Muhammadu Buhari would not have become Nigeria’s leader in 2015 without the significant support of Bola Tinubu.
In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Dare, who previously served as Minister of Sports under Buhari, emphasized that his current role is not a demotion but rather an opportunity to contribute positively to the Tinubu administration during a critical period of necessary reforms.
“This is a call to duty to help the administration at a time like this when we are going through reforms that are necessary,” he stated. Dare noted that his previous ministerial experience should not overshadow his commitment to governance, describing governance as a continuum that requires ongoing reform to achieve a functioning nation.
He expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by President Tinubu, emphasizing that all Nigerians should be prepared to serve the country, regardless of past positions. “I am glad to take up that responsibility with the team that is already in place,” he said.
Dare reiterated the pivotal role that Tinubu played in the formation of the political platform that led to Buhari’s emergence as president. “Without Tinubu’s role in forming the party and making the platform available, President Buhari would not have emerged,” he asserted, highlighting the importance of collaboration in Nigeria’s political landscape.
