Power Outage At Lagos Airport Has Left Hundreds Of Passengers Stranded

Hundreds of passengers were stuck at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed Airport on Saturday due to a power outage that affected a part of the airport.

Though, owing to the failure of the national grid, the country has been experiencing power shortages for the last several weeks, which has affected airports, with the power problem intensifying in the last three days.

On Saturday, the International Airport’s departure lounge was the most affected, according to reports.

It was, however, gathered that the generator that serves as a backup for the airport developed fault over 24 hours ago.

“Yes, there is a power challenge. The only generator we have been managing also packed up,” an airport official said.

Another worker told LEADERSHIP that the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) was working on a backup plan for the airport.
