The Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP), a split faction of Boko Haram, has issued a threat letter to specific villages in Adamawa State.
Terrorists apparently warned communities of an upcoming attack during the Christmas season, according to reports.
It was gathered that the insurgents dropped the letters in public places around communities.
“Yes, threat letters were dropped in Bazza and Michika towns,” Shehu Kambile, a Michika local, told Sahara Reporters. Terrorists have threatened an attack on our neighborhoods over the Christmas season.
“As it is, our people have been terrified because the terrorists have earned a reputation of carrying out their threat anytime they make one. Should that threat happen, it would be more devastating because of the current hardship occasioned by the prevailing bad economy in the country.
“We’re praying and hoping the military and other operatives would deploy intelligence so as to nip it in bud.”
When contacted, Brigade Commander Aminu Garba of the 23 Brigade Yola indicated that the districts of Bazza and Michika are not within his jurisdiction.
He said: “Please contact Commander 28 Brigade Chibok. They are not under my Brigade. I’m not aware. The issue of threat letters has now become a routine, let them come and see if they will go back.”
