The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the interrogation of Pastor Paul Adefarasin, founder of House on the Rock Church, over a viral video that showed him holding a gun-like object during an encounter with another road user.
In a statement on Tuesday, the police revealed that Adefarasin voluntarily appeared at the command headquarters in Ikeja, where detectives began questioning him.
“Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and is currently being interrogated by detectives who have commenced investigation on the case since a video surfaced online,” the statement read.
The viral clip, which has drawn widespread attention online, captures the pastor inside a Range Rover with tinted windows, holding what appears to be a metallic, pistol-shaped object during a brief exchange with a person believed to be a content creator filming the vehicle. The video ends as Adefarasin drives away.
Responding to the incident through a message to his congregation shared via his verified social media platforms, Pastor Adefarasin denied brandishing a weapon, describing the situation as a misunderstanding. He insisted the object seen in the video was not a firearm and was never used to threaten anyone.
The police have promised a thorough investigation, stating that the outcome will be made public once concluded.
