216 APC Members In Kebbi State Defect To  PDP

Over the weekend, over 200 supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) reportedly defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State.

Kebbi State is currently governed by an APC chieftain, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu. Furthermore, the defectors, who are said to number 216 in total, were from the state’s Kofar Kola area, which is thought to be a stronghold of the nation’s ruling party.

According to reports, the defectors include 134 male and 84 female APC members from the area.

Notable politicians among them are Alhaji Atiku Bandado, Alhaji Gwandu Mai Kifi, Alhaji Yahaya Lele, a former special assistant to the governor and Alhaji A.M. BK, a former provost of the Adamu Augie College of Education in the state.

The politicians were received into the opposition camp by the governorship candidate of the PDP in the state, Gen Aminu Bande (rtd); the Director General of the governorship campaign council, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu, Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Sani Dododo and other chieftains of the PDP in the state.

17 Anambra Monarchs Back Atiku Over Peter Obi

A group of monarchs in Anambra State have reportedly expressed interest in supporting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the upcoming 2023 general elections.

The said traditional rulers, all from Anambra’s Idemili North and South local government areas, however, refused to support their former state governor in favour of the PDP’s candidate.

The monarchs stated that the Wazirin Adamawa and his running mate, Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, have their full support because of the support they received from a PDP chieftain in Anambra, Prof Obiora Okonkwo.

The traditional rulers present were from the 17 communities that make up Idemili North and South.

Recall that Okonkwo was named the director of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council in the state a few days ago.

In his remark at a meeting held in Ogidi, the headquarters of the Idemili North Local Government Area on Saturday, the Chairman, of Idemili North and South Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe C. C. Agbala, said the support for the PDP was in the interest of the Igbo.

Agbala said, “We can no longer continue in opposition as a region; we have endured enough and must get our region back to national politics. You have our unalloyed support and blessings. With you, we are comfortable supporting (an) Atiku Abubakar’s presidency, knowing that you have a record of always standing in the line of progress, development, and stability.”

While addressing the monarchs, Okonkwo assured them that Atiku would restructure Nigeria if elected President in 2023.
