Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has predicted that the 2027 general elections will be the “simplest and easiest” victory yet for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.
Bello made the statement on Saturday during a political rally in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area, where he welcomed a wave of defectors into the APC, including the minority leader of the Kogi State House of Assembly.
“Today, Kogi State House of Assembly is going to be one. There will be no minority leader again the minority leader is decamping today,” Bello announced to a cheering crowd.
Declaring Kogi a one-party state, the former governor insisted that the political tide clearly favoured the APC both in the state and nationally.
“Kogi is a one-party state. And, by the special grace of God, come 2027, I have said it before: there is no vacancy in Aso Rock. Tinubu’s mandate was given to him by Nigerians, and they will renew it and say, ‘hold this mandate until 2031,’” he said.
Bello dismissed recent efforts by opposition leaders to form a coalition through the African Democratic Congress (ADC), questioning the relevance of such moves when “everybody is coming to our party.”
“Who is doing more coalition when everybody is joining the APC?” he asked rhetorically.
The former governor’s remarks come amid growing political realignments and defections across party lines, with the opposition attempting to consolidate forces ahead of the next general elections.
