Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, has assured Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, that all aspirants seeking the party’s governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections have agreed to step down in his favour.
Ganduje gave the assurance on Monday in Kano while formally welcoming Governor Yusuf back into the APC, describing his return as historic and beneficial to both the party and the state.
“I can categorically tell you that you are going to win 2027 with a landslide because all those contesting for the same seat have agreed to allow you alone go for it,” Ganduje said.
“To us, leaders of the APC, this is a memorable occasion we have all been waiting for. I strongly welcome Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf back to his home,” he added.
Recalling Yusuf’s political journey, Ganduje noted that the governor was among the founding members of the APC in 2014, but left the party due to political differences.
“We were in APC together with you; the party was formed with you. But later, because of some political differences, you left for the NNPP. Now we are thankful that you are back to our party and your home,” he said.
Ganduje described Governor Yusuf as a progressive politician whose policies align with APC ideals, declaring him the undisputed leader of the party in Kano State.
“In terms of APC policies, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is the leader of the party today in Kano,” he stated, in an apparent move to end speculations over leadership tussles within the party.
He also praised President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a national leader who governs without regard to religion or ethnicity, and expressed confidence that Yusuf would secure a second term.
Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, also commended Governor Yusuf, describing his return to the APC as a bold and consequential decision.
“You will win your second term in 2027. We have spoken to all aspirants, and they have agreed to support you,” Ganduje reiterated.
